Child and Adolescent Sexual Exploitation Prevention Policy (Anti-ESNNA)


At Cruz Travel, we are firmly committed to the prevention, detection, and reporting of sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (ESNNA) in all its forms. We uphold the highest ethical standards and comply with national and international regulations to ensure that tourism activities do not contribute to any kind of abuse, exploitation, or violation of children’s rights.

Our policy applies to all staff, guides, partners, suppliers, and travelers who participate in our tours, trekking programs, and climbing expeditions.

1. Our Commitment

Cruz Travel declares zero tolerance toward:

  • Sexual exploitation of children and adolescents

  • Child labor in tourism

  • The use of minors for pornography or commercial sexual purposes

  • Any behavior that threatens the physical or emotional integrity of minors

We align with:

  • Peruvian Law N° 30802 – Measures to Prevent ESNNA

  • Mincetur’s Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children and Adolescents

  • “The Code” – The Tourism Child-Protection Code of Conduct

  • UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

2. Preventive Measures

To prevent exploitation in tourism, Cruz Travel implements the following actions:

2.1 Staff Training

All employees, guides, and field staff receive mandatory training on:

  • Recognizing signs of exploitation

  • Proper response and reporting procedures

  • Ethical interactions with minors in tourism areas

2.2 Responsible Tourism Practices

We ensure that all our services:

  • Are delivered in safe and controlled environments

  • Avoid situations that place minors at risk

  • Follow ethical photography guidelines (no photos of minors without consent)

  • Do not allow minors to enter or accompany tours under unsafe conditions

2.3 Supplier and Partner Requirements

Transport companies, hotels, porters, cooks, and local operators must adhere to:

  • Child protection policies

  • Local and international laws regarding ESNNA

  • Zero involvement with any organization linked to child exploitation

3. Prohibited Actions

The following actions are strictly forbidden for staff, travelers, and third parties:

  • Requesting or engaging in sexual activities with minors

  • Producing or distributing sexual content involving minors

  • Using company facilities, vehicles, or tours for illicit purposes

  • Offering gifts, money, or favors to minors in exchange for sexual conduct

  • Encouraging children to work in conditions that violate their rights

Violation of this policy results in immediate termination of contracts and legal action.

4. Reporting & Response Protocol

Cruz Travel has established a confidential and effective reporting system.

4.1 How We Respond

If staff members detect or suspect any case of sexual exploitation:

  1. Report immediately to management

  2. Collect information responsibly (without exposing the minor)

  3. Notify relevant authorities

  4. Document the incident following internal procedures

 

4.2 Authorities Contacted

Depending on the situation, we notify:

  • PNP (Peruvian National Police)

  • DEMUNA (Child Protection Office)

  • Ministerio de la Mujer y Poblaciones Vulnerables

  • Local tourism authorities

4.3 Traveler Reports

Travelers who witness suspicious behavior may report it through:

5. Communication & Awareness

6. Protection of Minors in Visual Content

To protect children’s rights:

  • We do not publish identifiable images of minors without written consent

  • Photos taken during tours respect dignity and privacy

  • Images suggesting vulnerability or exploitation are prohibited

7. Continuous Improvement

Cruz Travel reviews this policy annually to:

  • Strengthen preventive actions

  • Update procedures based on new legal requirements

  • Promote a culture of protection and responsibility in tourism
