Laguna 513 is a stunning glacial lake located at the foot of the snowy Hualcán mountain in the Huascarán National Park, Ancash region of Peru. The lake’s vibrant turquoise waters and dramatic Andean backdrop make this one of the most scenic trekking destinations near Huaraz and Carhuaz. The full-day trekking tour combines transport by vehicle with a challenging hike through Andean landscapes, crossing rivers, high-altitude valleys, and smaller lakes along the way.

Itinirary

Full Day: Huaraz - Carhuaz - Shonguilpampa - Lagoon 513 - Huaraz

The Laguna 513 full-day tour begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Huaraz or Carhuaz, followed by a scenic drive through the Callejón de Huaylas to the village of Hualcán and the trek’s starting point. From there, you will hike along well-marked trails, passing rivers, alpine vegetation, and the beautiful Laguna Rajupaquinán before starting the final ascent to Laguna 513, located at the foot of Mount Hualcán. Upon arrival, enjoy free time to rest, take photos, and admire the intense turquoise color of the glacial lake. After a break at the lake, you will descend along the same route and return by vehicle to Huaraz in the late afternoon.
