Laguna Rocotuyoc (and the neighboring “Frozen Lagoon”) is a newer, stunning day-hike option near Huaraz featuring turquoise water and close glacier views, with trails that take visitors very near a glacial snout and alpine cirques. The route is often run as an acclimatization or alternative day-excursion with easy driving access and short hiking sections.

Itinirary

Full Day: Huaraz – Rocotuyoc trailhead – Laguna Rocotuyoc – Huaraz

Pick up early in Huaraz and drive to the Rocotuyoc/Paccharuri area. Short guided walk to Laguna Rocotuyoc and the adjacent Frozen Lagoon, time for photos and glacier views, then return to Huaraz by afternoon.
